Duran Junior High School students compete at track meet
The North Jefferson Middle School track meet held at Mortimer Jordan High School on March 23, and a number of Duran Junior High School students— Duran North’s eighth graders, as well as Duran South’s seventh graders—made their mark.
Eighth grader Beka Hooks placed first in girls javelin with 76 feet, one inch, four in discus with 56 feet, one and a half inches, sixth in shot-put with 24 feet, three and a half inches, and eighth in long jump with 12 feet, two and a half inches.
Emma Munkus, also in eighth grade, placed ninth in girls 100 meter hurdles with 21.32 seconds, and 10th in long jump with 11 feet, 10 inches.
The eighth grade boys also placed with Gus Housh getting fourth in boys discus with 72 feet 11 inches, Jayden Harder getting fifth in 110 meter hurdles with 20.13 seconds, and Brilliance Swift getting tenth in in shot-put with 27 feet three and a half inches.
Duran South’s seventh graders also had something to say, Ja’Nai Wilson placed second in girls javelin with 62 feet, two inches, and Saylor Richard placing fifth in girls long jump with 13 feet, one inch.
