Wildfire in Leeds and Moody area

A wildfire is currently burning in the Leeds/Moody area, right off of I-20. It’s located on the westbound side of the interstate, between exits 144 and 140. 

The Alabama Forestry Commission reported that the fire has burned over 100 acres and has affected some homes in the area.

The fire is located on the westbound side of I-20 between exits 140 and 144. At this time, a bridge in the area is engulfed in smoke and traffic is moving slowly.

Currently, the smoke is being reported as visible from at least five miles away from the blaze. It is being reported that traffic is moving slowly in the area, motorists are advised to seek alternate route, while being wary of not traveling near the fire.

Both Moody and Leeds fire departments are at the scene, fighting the fire.
