What’s Up in Odenville

Hello Readers! I’m back with this week’s edition of What’s Up in Odenville!

This past weekend I was part of a benefit to raise money for a close friend of mine. We graduated high school together and for the past few years we have grown to be the best of friends. My friend has been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. He has just recently married and has a beautiful 15-month-old. When he shared his diagnosis with me, I immediately sprang into action.

Myself, and several classmates, organized a bike ride and after party, sold t- shirts etc. in two weeks. TWO WEEKS. I write this to say that my community also rose to the occasion. Local businesses – Charlie’s BBQ, Sassy’s Boutique and 411 & Main each donated items to raffle off. Local residents came to the ride and after party. To say it was a success is an understatement because thanks to everyone that participated we raised over $5,000. I want to personally thank everyone that gave of their time, money, and heart. I love my community and can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Let’s get to the news.
