PCPD Chief Turley recipient of elite training opportunity
Chief Greg Turley was one of 13 chiefs to earn the highest level of police executive training offered by the State of Alabama Chief’s Association. He received it during the association’s winter conference this week.
Chief Turley was awarded the 240-hour Certified Law Enforcement Executive Program certificate and given the designation of Certified Law Enforcement Executive.
The Certified Law Enforcement Executive Program is open to all active full-time police chiefs in Alabama who are members in good standing in the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police and takes approximately ten years to achieve for chiefs that are attending the training conferences exclusively. Each module of training requires the chief of police to submit to a testing and scoring before earning the classroom hours.
The program is designed with four levels. The first level is a Certificate in Police Management. The Second level is AACOP Certification in Law Enforcement. Level three is AACOP Certification in Law Enforcement and the fourth level is Advanced AACOP Certification in Law Enforcement
Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission also bestows the designation, “Certified Law Enforcement Executive” on those reaching this level of excellence.
Courses that are completed during the training focus on topics including leadership skills, human relations, internal personnel policies, communications, and external environment issues.
