Moody’s Miracle Ride

There was another miracle for the Moody Miracle League.  While rain was all over the county, the sun was shining on the field as Moody Miracle League had their First Annual “A Miracle Ride” on July 17 organized by Larry Hardeman.

Bikers from several counties in Alabama came out to help raise money for the aging field at the Moody Miracle League ballpark and for the special needs baseball players. The motorcycle ride began at Jack’s restaurant in Moody, and ended at the field. Baseball games were played from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Smiles could be seen all over as the players swung the bats and bikers and players ran around the field to catch the ball. All proceeds from the ride went to help with field repairs for the league.

One of the riders, David Joiner wrote, “Would love to do it again, for those who didn’t make it, it was a true blessing to meet and talk to these athletes.”

Larry Hardeman is working on next year’s ride, which will be planned for spring 2018 time frame.  The Miracle League is non-profit group that encourages and maintains a baseball league for special needs children and some adults. The games are played on a special matted field with no grass, and the field is smaller than the standard league size. Representatives of the groups say it gives them a place to have fun and compete.

The next big fundraiser for the Miracle League will be C & C Motor Co & Carpenetti’s Pizza Car Show on October 7, which is held in conjunction with the Moody Oktoberfest.
