Bargain Hunt opens in Pell City

Hundreds of customers lined the sidewalk anticipating the grand opening of Bargain Hunt in Pell City.

Originally scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, managers opened the doors early because so many people were waiting in the cold. Shoppers were welcomed with reusable shopping bags, coupons, donuts, and coffee.

“We love the community in Alabama,” Bargain Hunt CEO David Wachs said. “One reason we chose Pell City as our newest location is because it is such a tight-knit community.”

The Pell City location is Bargain Hunt’s 81st store, which has locations throughout the U.S, primarily in the Southeast.

“We began 2017 with 60 stores, and now we have over 80,” Wachs said. Bargain Hunt plans to add ten more locations this year. The Pell City location has 35 employees and encompasses around 25,000 square feet in the previous K-Mart store on Martin Street South in Pell City.

“We have a unique, constantly changing inventory,” Chris Chapin, Senior Vice President of Operations said.

Bargain Hunt has a range of merchandise offered at below-retail pricing.  Items include clothing for men, women, and children; electronics and TVs; home furnishings; toys, bikes, sporting goods and outdoor gear; indoor and outdoor furniture; household goods and grocery items.

L.J. Lozano is the manager of the Pell City location. He also manages the Gadsden location and has worked with Bargain Hunt for two years.

“An additional store is a new challenge for me,” Lozano said. “I’m happy to be a part of Pell City.”

Bargain Hunt employee Nga Vo Fuller also presented a check for $1000 to Haley Williams, assistant principal at Williams Intermediate School, for use in their new House System Program.

“We’re very glad you’re here,” Pell City City Councilmember Jay Jenkins said. “It helps do more for more people.”

Bargain Hunt is located at 807 Martin Street South in Pell City. Regular hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday-Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
