What’s Up in Odenville

A lot has been going on in our fair town. Seniors have graduated, kids are out of school for the summer, and parents are pulling their hair out. I now have a senior in high school and I am one step closer to an empty nest. I always thought I would be ready for it when the time came but that’s not the case. I am dreading having all of my kids out of the house. Mostly because I won’t have anyone to blame when the “hubz” realizes all of the Swiss Rolls are gone, but maybe because I kinda like having the kids around.

Most of the time.

Let’s get to the news.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Congratulations to St. Clair County High School (SCCHS) Principal Mike Howard on his win as St. Clair County Superintendent of Board of Education. Howard defeated current Federal Programs Coordinator Greg Cobb in the June 5 election. Howard’s background includes time as a special education teacher and a former principal at Shelby County High School.  Howard came to SCCHS in 2016 along with assistant principal Brandon Taylor to replace outgoing principal Brian Terry and assistant principal Dean Isdell, with his platform for change as “Raise the Bar”. Thank you for all your hard work and good luck in your new position.

Congrats to K-9 Bella and partner Captain Glenn Walton who have been busy getting drugs off the streets in Odenville. Bella indicated on a car during a traffic stop and uncovered a 1/4 lb of marijuana. She was later requested to assist Moody Police Department on a traffic stop where she indicated in a car that had 16.3 grams of meth inside it. Great job to Bella and the Captain!
