Garrison Steel named August Business of the Month

Garrison Steel was selected as the Pell City Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month on August 2, receiving a certificate and recognition for their contribution to the local economy as well as their commitment to education.

Garrison Steel has been in business for 26 years and has two locations in the industrial park in Pell City. They encompass three companies, Garrison Erectors, Garrison Fabricators, and Garrison Industrial Steel.

Two years ago, owner John Garrison started an iron worker training program in St. Clair County, working with local high schools and Jefferson State Community College to train students in an industry that is desperately seeking skilled workers.

So far, over 11 students have completed the program, eight of them becoming employees of Garrison Steel.

“This was something that John really wanted to do and finally had the opportunity,” said Garrison Steel President Jason Garrison.

“Garrison Steel were chosen not just for the success they have experienced in business, but because of the love and support that they return to the community,” said Brandon Turner, President of the Pell City Chamber of Commerce Board. “Their love and support shows through programs they have developed with the Pell City School System, in achieving a great training regimen for young high school students wanting to pursue other avenues of careers.”

“We appreciate their desire, work ethic and business they bring to our community, and couldn’t be more pleased with their success in so many different areas,” Turner continued. “John, Kathy and Jason [Garrison] are such wonderful people with such great passion for what they do.”

In addition to training students to become future employees, the company is always looking for skilled workers to become a part of the company. For more information on Garrison Steel, visit www.garrisonsteel.com.
