Warren named May Kiwanis Teacher of the Month
Kiwanis Club of Pell City presented their last Teacher of the Month Award for the 2017-2018 school year to Debbie Warren, first grade teacher at Eden Elementary School in Pell City.
Warren began teaching first grade in 2007 and has made an impact on students as well as her fellow teachers.
“She has the biggest heart and loves her children,” said Eden Elementary Principal Laurie Funderburg. “She is very dedicated.”
Warren received a certificate and a check for $100 for use in her classroom.
“Many know so much comes out of our (teacher’s) pickets because we want things for our children,” Warren said. “So I am very thankful for this.”
The Kiwanis Club also donated $200 to the Pell City High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) who has seven students competing in National Competition in Baltimore, Maryland this summer. Students demonstrated the Roger’s Rules of Order in a mock meeting. They will be perfecting their presentation for judges during the National Competition, led by their sponsor Mollie Spraberry who is retiring this year.
“We are very thankful for you allowing us this forum for the students to demonstrate their presentation,” Spraberry said. “They have worked very hard. We only have one student that has previously been to National’s so this is new for most of the students. This will be our first time in Baltimore, so we want to do some fun things with the students.”
