Creek Bank Festival Saturday at Memorial Park

Once again Leeds will come to life with guests descending upon Memorial Park for the 17th Annual Creek Bank Festival.

The event, sponsored by the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, has been a source of family fun, arts and crafts, and live entertainment for local residents and visitors alike. This year’s event figures to keep that long tradition alive.

“We have a lot of fun activities planned and a lot of great entertainment. We try to find some unique things to add to the festival each year and feel we have been able to do that again,” said Sandra McGuire, executive director of the LACC.

Among this year’s activities will be a rubber duck race, a sweets bake-off, and the Mr. and Mrs. Creek Bark Pageant. Also featured this year will be camel rides, as well as pony rides and a petting zoo.

For those interested in entering the sweets bake-off, all entries should be registered by 10:30 a.m. The winner will be named at noon.

Those participating in the Creek Bark Dog Pageant should have their pets registered by 2:30 p.m.

The festival will also feature a silent auction on items, including autographed footballs by coaches Nick Saban and Gene Chizik. The money raised benefits the Miss Leeds Area Scholarship fund.

“We will have a lot of exciting things things and a lot of new food vendors – more than we’ve ever had before,” McGuire said. “The weather is supposed to be nice, so we invite everyone to come out and have a great time with us at the Creek Bank Festival.”
