Victory wins at 1A State

Victory Christian School had two students who won medals at the State Track Meet in Cullman, May 6-7. Senior, Gracie Cheatwood won the Bronze in the 1A Girls Long Jump and the Silver Metal in the 1A Girls High Jump. Sophomore, Brodie Holliday won the Bronze in Boys 1A Discus. 2016 is the first time VCS has earned a team medal at Sectionals and students have medaled at the State Meet.

Cheatwood placed in the high jump and long jump, even though the school has no facilities for her to practice for either of these events. She graduated this year with a full ride scholarship to the University of North Alabama where she will be a cheerleader for the Lions.

Holliday will be a junior this fall, he plays football and competes in track. He throws the discus, shot put and the javelin. This was his second year on the track team and he medaled at the sectional meet both years.
