What’s up in Odenville: 2016: My year to de-clutter
Hello readers! I’m back with this week’s edition of What’s Up in Odenville.
It’s a New Year upon us! The holidays blew by us like a locomotive, and all we are left with is a ton of credit card debt, unwanted pounds and empty resolutions. I never make resolutions because I have learned that while I have an abundance of good intentions, am sadly lacking in motivation.
I did get a fire under my feet about getting my house organized and de-cluttered, and seven contractor garbage bags later I have my bedroom and closet CLUTTER FREE! Yes, you read that right. All that came from one room. It’s not my fault that I’m a Diva and I have a shopping addiction. I love clothes and shoes — especially shoes. I also keep anything my kids gave me EVER. Every drawing, note, anything they did from the time they could hold a crayon — I kept it. Wish me luck figuring out exactly what I’m going to do with all of it. #lifeofapackratmom

Monthly OYAA Meetings will be held first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Odenville Civic Center (pending availability) starting Feb. 3. OYAA will have regularly scheduled monthly meetings the first Tuesday of every month starting Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Odenville Civic Center. Also, there are a few improvement projects going on around the ballpark, thanks in part to the City of Odenville, HnR Plumbing owner Jerry Ruess and Jay Farmer with CraneWorks. Jerry Rewis, Shane Neighbors and Stephen Surles along with the OYAA Board are heading these projects up. Some of the projects include remodeling all bathrooms and bringing them up to ADA standards, adding block work to a couple of dugouts, extending a retaining wall, concrete block knee walls around all three field backstops, rubber matting in batting cages, as well as electrical improvements throughout the park. All new and existing block work will have new paint also. OYAA would like to thank the City of Odenville as well as all businesses and individuals for their financial assistance and/or in kind services.
OYAA will have work days scheduled starting this Saturday at 7 a.m. Work days will be every Saturday until projects are complete. Any parents who can help would be greatly appreciated.
The City of Margaret is getting a new pharmacy in the building next to the Flashtrack at the corner of Margaret Sanie Road and St. Clair County Road 12. Margaret Pharmacy will have its soft opening next Wednesday, Jan. 13, with a grand opening at a later date. Owners of the new pharmacy are Mark and Tracy Ross.
“We want to be the hometown pharmacy that feels like family,” Tracy said. “We offer a drive thru, gift shop, immunization, and you can transfer prescriptions easily. Stop in and see us, we would love to meet you! If we can help you with anything, give us a call at (205) 319-1999 or email us at margaretpharmacy2015@gmail.com”.
