Over 100 job openings in the Board of Pardons and Paroles

With the passing of Act 2015-185, came the expansion of Pardons and Paroles’ work force. As a result, the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles is now hiring 100 probation and parole officers. There also 23 vacancies for probation and parole specialists.

Among other duties, the agency is responsible for supervising Alabama’s felony offenders on probation and parole. The agency supervises over 64,000 probationers and parolees yearly, operating 61 field offices throughout the state, with a Central Office in Montgomery.

Since funding was allocated to Pardons and Paroles in October of 2015 to implement the recent reforms, the agency has strategically assessed current offender caseloads to determine where to place new hires. Positions are being filled statewide in field offices, as well as these other sites.

Starting salary for officers begins at $33,902.40, with up to an additional $3,000 annually in law enforcement subsistence pay, and for specialists $27,806.40. Both state merit system positions also receive a comprehensive benefits package.

Job announcements for these positions are located on the State of Alabama Personnel Department’s website and detail the application process, find them here and here
