Meth busts on rise in Pell City
In recent weeks the narcotics unit of the Pell City Department has seen a rise in drug cases dealing with unlawful production and selling of meth.
On July 5 at 4:30 p.m., patrol officers received a call about a fight. When patrol responded to the call, a white male took off running, leaving behind a duffel bag. Officers removed the contents from the bag and interviewed the suspect.
Narcotics Cpl. Richard Woods and Officer Chris Norris were called to the scene where four one-pot meth labs were discovered at 4407 Masters Road in PellCity.
Brandon Scott Brooks, a 32-year-old white male was arrested and charged with unlawfully manufacturing, first degree and unlawful possession of controlled substance.
Johnny Alan Barclay, 36-year-old white male, was arrested for manufacturing, second degree.
Mercedes Eve Barclay, 36-year-old white female was arrested for possession of marijuana, second degree, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. DHR was present to do a safety plan and place the children residing at the residence elsewhere.
On July 11 at 9:50 p.m. narcotics officers received another call about a meth bust.
Jonathan Paul Macon, a thirty-two-year-old white male of Pell City was arrested and charged for manufacturing, second degree.
A subsequent search at 1103 23rd Street N., Apt. I-3 at the Everglades complex yielded evidence of supplies used for manufacturing.
Cpl. Woods and Officer Norris say they have seen a traumatic increase in forged prescriptions in recent months.
