Coin Toss Has St. Clair Facing Fayette County

Tomorrow the St. Clair Saints will begin their post-season with a road game against Fayette County.

“I’ll tell you one thing, we’ll try to be there,” head coach Charlie Boren said of his team’s determination to put all its effort into the game. It’s a little distant to be traveling on the road. But a coin toss threw them into third and we’re traveling there.”

Boren talked about his team’s success in the 2008 season after securing the 4A Region 5 Championship last year. “Overall, when you look back where we started from when we talked at the beginning of the season, we’re very happy. With so many new payers and being 7-3, we’re happy with our success and knew we could make it. We’ve got two or three things we’re looking at that we’re trying to improve on. But to finish where we did, I don’t want to sit here and say this is where we’d be, but we knew we could make it and we did. We’ve had so many new guys come in on offense. We’ve got a new quarterback and two new guys on defense spots and on offense as well. You hope that you could be here and we are.”

The Saints have been looking at strategy and how best to take on Fayette County. “We’ve got several films on them and picked up a few more from some other teams. They’re a good team and they’re 8-2 overall. They play really well and they have three or four, good, skill athletes. You never know how someone’s gonna react on the road, especially after traveling three hours. But I think that we’ll match up well against them. I think that you’ll be seeing two teams that are matched up with a lot of equal strengths. We’re gonna give it our all, though.”
