D.A. to prosecute Shelby County case
St. Clair District Attorney Richard Minor confirmed that he will be the prosecutor in a Shelby County child molestation case involving a former teacher.
Daniel M. Acker, Jr. was arrested last week and Shelby County authorities said he confessed to molesting more than 20 girls during his career as an elementary school teacher in several Shelby County Schools.
Minor said Attorney General Luther Strange asked him to take on the case as special prosecutor after Shelby County D.A. Robby Owens recused himself from the case.
