Lady Tigers Season Going Well Despite Loss to No. 1 Ranked Mortimer Jordan

The Springville Lady Tigers were downed 6-1 by the No. 1 ranked 5A Mortimer Jordan Lady Blue Devils on Tuesday bringing their record to 26-9-1.

McKinley Tribble took to the circle and had five strikeouts. Taylor Earley led the batters as she went one for three.

Last week the Lady Tigers went 5-0 and won the River City Rumble in Gadsden.

Hewitt-Trussville 2

After scoring three runs in the second inning, the Lady Tigers were able to keep the 6A Lady Huskies at bay and secure the win.

Savanna Hennings had seven strikeouts and allowed three hits.

At the plate Hennings went one for two; Morgan Griggs went one for three with a double and two RBIs as well as a run; Sydne Waldrop went one for three, as did Brittany Dunn and Taylor Earley.

In their first meeting at the tournament, Hennings had 11 K’s while allowing only one hit.

Hennings went one for three and had the game-winning RBI as she batted in Sydne Waldrop in the eighth inning.

Game 3

Springville 7, Douglas 0

The Lady Tigers had their bats going and kept it up throughout their third game of the tournament.

Top batters were: Taylor Earley, who went one for four and had two RBIs; Morgan Griggs, who was one for three with a double and two runs; Tanner Earley, who was one for three with a run; Kelsey Ray, who was two for three with an RBI and two runs; Brittany Dunn, who went one for three and Kirsten Gipson, who was two for four with a run and an RBI.

Springville 3, Glencoe 2

McKinley Tribble took to the circle to strikeout eight batters before Hennings took over to add three more K’s to that game’s stats.

Taylor Earley went one for two and had a run as well as a double; Tanner Earley went one for two and had an RBI; Gipson went one for three and had two runs; Danyelle Martin was one for one with an RBI and Katelyn Moore went one for two.

Game 1

Springville 2, Leeds 0

The Lady Tigers had a run in the third and another in the sixth for the win.

Hennings struck out 13 Lady Greenwave batters and allowed three hits.

Griggs was one for three with a stolen base; Taylor Earley went one for two and had a run; Tanner Earley was one for three with and RBI double and Gipson went one for three with a home run.

Springville 4, Corner 1

The 5A Springville Lady Tigers also defeated 4A Corner last week. Hennings had season-high 18 strikeouts and allowed four hits and four walks.

In the batter’s box, Gipson went two for four with an RBI; Waldrop was one for three with a double and crossed home once; Taylor Earley was also one for three with a double, an RBI and two runs; Martin and Ashley Wise were also one for three with Martin earning a stolen base and crossing home once.
