JV Tigers Take County Tournament

The Springville Tigers won the junior varsity guys’ county tournament with a 41-34 overtime victory over Moody.

The Tigers beat St. Clair County to earn a spot in the title game, while the Blue Devils took out Ashville to get their spot in the finals.

Springville threw the ball away with 2.9 seconds left in regulation and the score tied at 29-29 after passing the ball around the perimeter in search of the winning bucket. Immediately after, a Moody turnover and Springville timeout gave the Tigers one more shot with one second left but the attempt fell short.

The Tigers would control overtime as they scored the first four points and added some free throws down the stretch.

Leading Springville was tournament MVP Nick Reaume with 13 points, Andre Waddy with ten, Jalane Ramsey with eight and Julius Davis with eight.

For Moody, Andre Porter and Tripp Burson both scored eight points, Justin Wilson added seven while Cory Vandergrift and DarQuavious Swann each put in five.
