Butler to seek House District 30 post
Rainbow City businessman Mack N. Butler has formally announced his candidacy for the state House of Representatives seat vacated by Blaine Galliher who has held that position for the past 19 years.
His business experience includes owning Butler Electrical Contractors, a firm that began in his garage which now employs over 30 men and women and has an annual payroll in excess of $750,000. It is one of the largest of its kind in northeast Alabama – wiring for many of the area’s largest shopping centers, industrial centers, medical offices and providing residential maintenance.
“I plan to take my 10 years of experience on the Etowah County Board of Education — overseeing an 80 Million dollar budget, 1100 employees (the 3rd largest employer in Etowah County) — plus my over 27 years as a small business owner, to the State House representing State House District 30,” Butler said.
Elected officials throughout Etowah County have endorsed Butler in his quest for the House of Representatives seat, including 4th District Congressman Robert Aderholt who said – “…knowing Mack for several years now I can’t think of anyone who would do a better job and be more dedicated in representing the people of House District 30.”
Butler has served as President, Etowah County Board of Education (2nd term representing Rainbow City-Southside); Chairman, Alabama State Library board; member of the State of Alabama Electrical Contractor’s Board; past member of the Alabama State Textbook committee; past chairman, Etowah County Republican Executive Committee and presently serves as a Reserve Deputy — one of the few with full arrest powers – in the Etowah County Sheriff’s office. He is a major investor in Etowah County real estate with over 70 commercial and residential properties
He is married to the former Connie Panell for the past 27 years. They are parents of 15-year old twins, Connor and Carson; 18-year old Caleb, a recent graduate of Southside High School and Morgan, 21, a Marketing major and senior at the University of Alabama. The family worships at Cross Point Baptist Church.
