Ragland’s Summer Sizzle is Saturday, Aug. 7

August 7 will be filled with a day’s worth of entertainment as the first ever  Summer Sizzle kicks off in Ragland.

Starting at 9 a.m. the day will feature family activities, food, rides, games for all ages arts, crafts and music.

Summer Sizzle was the brainchild of Colleen, Doty, of Ragland, who is the owner/operator of C.A.N. Do Promotions (www.candoinc.com).

“The reason for doing it all is not just because I’m passionate about promoting and having a festival in Ragland, but it’s for the community,” Doty said. “But I’m not just talking about Ragland; it’s for everyone to come together and have some fun in the sun for everyone. To go from ‘me’ to ‘we’ for a day!”

Putting Summer Sizzle together, Doty has seen the community come together. “I have loved it and getting to meet all the different people I got to meet has been very fulfilling. It’s been very rewarding.”

When she first approached the town council, she said Ragland leaders were “open to everything I proposed to them. I’m super excited about it and the council gave no hesitations about proposals.”

Summer Sizzle kicks off Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. and events will last until 9 p.m.

A classic car and motorcycle cruise and parade will begin at 11 a.m. Candie’s Hearts for Caner will be putting on the motorcycle ride. All proceeds go towards fighting caner.

Local entertainers from throughout the county will be performing throughout the day. There will be two stages with Negative 29 headlining the main stage at 7:30 p.m.

Summer Sizzle also will feature:
