Pell City Police taking drugs, strays off street

In January, the Pell City Police Department issued 48 warrants. They made 68 misdemeanor arrests and four felony arrests.

There were 360 methadone pills taken during January.

The police volunteers reported 122 hours of service. General volunteers contributed 105 hours, including helping with four reports of suspicious activity, one road blockage cleared, two funeral escorts and other incidents.

Animal Control patrolled 1,878 miles and picked up 44 animals: 27 dogs, 13 cats and four wildlife animals. The riverside services picked up 10 animals.

In February, the police department issued 104 warrants. They made 67 misdemeanor arrests and 10 felony arrests.

Eight used syringes, two drug-smoking pipes, three ounces of marijuana and three forged prescriptions were taken off the street. Three labs were also found.

The police volunteers reported 151 hours, and general volunteers assisted with 100 patrol requests, a car fire, 10 business checks and other incidents.

Animal Control patrolled 1,353 miles and picked up 35 animals: 33 dogs and two cats. The riverside services picked up three animals.

In March, the police department issued 104 warrants. They made 86 misdemeanor arrests and three felony arrests.

Two ounces of marijuana and 10 Xanax were taken off the street.

The police volunteers reported 159 hours of service in March. Chaplains volunteered 14 hours, and general volunteers contributed 145 hours assisting with three accident scenes, two fire calls, one alarm investigation and other incidents.

Animal Control patrolled 2,219 miles in March and picked up 36 animals: 20 dogs and 16 cats. Riverside services picked up 25 animals.

In April, the police department issued 104 warrants. They made 75 misdemeanor arrests and 10 felony arrests.

They assisted St. Clair County once on a shooting and once on a meth lab and chop shop. They took five grams of meth, one gram of heroin, five unknown pills, half an ounce of marijuana and one methadone pill of the streets. They also closed six meth labs.

The police volunteers served 194 hours in April, and chaplains contributed 47 hours. General volunteers served 147 hours, including responding to two alarms, 11 minor incident reports, three fires and other incidents.

Animal Control patrolled 2,070 miles and picked up 25 animals: 15 cats and 10 dogs.

As of April 30, the Metro Bank Explorer Account (from donations and work performed) was $12,351.16.
