Fishing line recycling starts on Lake Logan Martin
The First monofilament recycling station was set up at Lakeside Park in Pell City on Logan Martin Lake this week.
The effort is part of the Logan Martin Lake Protection Association’s outreach, in cooperation with the St. Clair County Soil and Water Conservation District to protect both wildlife and boat propellers as well.
People on the lake only have to take off their used fishing line and put it in the tube. The used line is then sent to the Berkley Fishing Company to be recycled.
Landings and marinas will be outfitted with the recycling stations in the coming weeks and months.
The next places to be outfitted with the recycling tubes will be Poor House Marina in Lincoln, followed by Riverside Landing and then Surfside Marina. In some cases, like at marinas, the tubes will be placed near fuel pumps for easy access and not to take boaters off the water to recycle their lines.
If someone or a marina or landing wants to have a fishing line recycling tube installed, call 205-913-6623.
