On signing day, Pell City quarterback Elliott Wilson signed with Ouachita Baptist University of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, while Panther lineman/fullback Lenny Harrell signed with Jacksonville State University.

Pell City High School’s Coach Jay Brown said both boys are very deserving of their reward and have worked hard to get where they are.

Both have played for three years, even through injuries, and have done things for their teammates that Brown will never forget.

Brown said he is looking forward to seeing Wilson’s college progress. “The coaches that Elliot is going to play for are excited about their current quarterback, and about Elliot being the quarterback of their future. He just has a terrific upside and a great attitude.”

Of Harrell, Brown said, “He deserves it very much. Lenny is an incredible player, a hard worker, and he never misses anything that he doesn’t have to.”

As expected, both boys are excited to play for their new team.

Wilson said, “Ouachita Baptist is great. It’s a nice experience and I look forward to going. I met with all the coaches when I went down there and I think that they’re looking forward to having me.”

Harrell said, “I really look forward to being successful at Jacksonville State. I’m really excited about going up there and I can’t wait for the season.”

Also at the signing, Pell City offensive tackle Josh Oakes was recognized for receiving the Dan Washburn Scholarship.

Oakes was nominated for the scholarship by Coach Jay Brown and Pell City High School staff. The $1,500 scholarship is for students that hope to become coaches in the future.
