Over the cliff
The media has been in full support mode as they have saturated the airwaves with the expected dire consequences of our national bus loaded with politicians driving our country over the fiscal cliff. This pending national disaster is one of the best bits of theater to come out of Washington D.C. I have one simple question to ask, “So what if there is no act two and the bus goes over the cliff?”
If you can’t believe any of those involved in the negotiations can you believe any of the forecasts of the consequences? I think that I, like most Americans have heard so much of this rhetoric that we don’t believe anything that is being said by either side. What is the truth, the truth about the negotiations, the truth of what will happen if we go over the fiscal cliff? Who set this mess up? Why are we here? Who benefits from this process?
The problem exists because our country has been spending money faster than we could burn in a furnace. Those spending the money want more to spend. The cause is that simple. Those that are spending the money want to saddle the country with more debt. The winner will be the Obama administration. Obama apparently believes that he can’t loose. The extreme outcomes would be that the Republican held house rolls over and tells the president he can have anything he wants. Obama wins, more money to spend and the American people loose. The opposite outcome would be that the Republican led house plants their feet and tells the president, “Your driving, you can turn around, stop, or put the pedal to the medal and drive over the cliff! Have good trip!”
If it is over the cliff we go, Obama has a sycophantic media that can’t wait to spread the tar and feather on the Republicans and crown Obama as our savior, encouraging him to circumvent those nasty conservatives and the constitution! Obama wins and the American people loose. How can Obama win while we all loose? He is a lame duck President with a political philosophy that depends on the American people begging government to save them.
The Americans that believe government is the source of all prosperity, all comfort, all relief in time of need, all medication and good health will demand that Obama provide them the benefits they voted for when they voted him into office. Those that live in the areas that Sandy destroyed understand that government promises are hollow vestiges of hope driven by political hot air. If the resources of the US government are limitless as Obama has suggested, there should be no suffering or despair remaining in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy.
If, Obama wanted to avoid the fiscal cliff, he should voice a plan that at least parks the bus. Where is his plan for fiscal success for our country? Where is his plan for avoiding the fiscal cliff? What are the major components of his plan? Obama is the leader of our country, “Where is he taking us?
