Pell City Card Party set to be bigger, better
The Third Annual Pell City Library Guild Card Party is set to be an even bigger event than last year.
It will be held Thursday, February 4 from 10 a.m. untl 3 p.m. at Celebrations in Pell City.
Tickets are on sale at the library through 5 p.m. tomorrow for $20. All proceeds raised benefit programs offered by the library including children’s and adult events and gatherings, literacy outreach programs and materials that may need to be purchased over the next year.
In addition to games being played, a silent auction along with door prizes being awarded will help round out the day’s schedule.
One of this year’s feature attractions at the annual event includes a scrabble match between Mayor Bill Hereford against representatives from area newspapers. Former Pell City mayor Adam Stocks will officiate that game, which will last from 10-11:30.
Other games that will be played will include, but not be limited to: bridge, canasta, rook and dominos.
Last year the Card Party raised close to $7,000 and this year looks to be even bigger. “Last year we had 225 attend and we have outgrown the civic center, so we decided to hold it at Celebrations, which will accommodate the even larger event we expect this year,” Nicole Anderson, Public Relations Chairwoman for the Library Card Party. “It’s a worthy cause and it’s lots of fun to attend.”
Lunch, which can be purchased and taken out or eaten while taking part in the fun, will be catered by Polly Mitchell.
