Pell City rezones for townhomes

On Monday Pell City approved to zone an area beside the local community college and near the new hospital and veteran’s home.

The $15 million Jubilee townhome project drew concerns from residents who attended Monday’s meeting alongside representatives from The Bennett Group, who are overseeing the project.

But during Monday’s meeting, several of the residents who live off Hazelwood Drive said they stood in support of the project. The city and county have said work to make access to and from the road will take place.

The city also approved $13,166 for upgrades to the city’s water system that would allow them to measure and control the amount of water it gets from the Coosa Valley water System.
