Those of us who knew and loved Mrs. Brenda Bush of Pell City were very sad when we learned she passed away recently. Brenda was the mother of Ashley Higginbotham Davison, who is my great-niece. Our prayers and condolences are with Brenda’s family.
Sunday, May 8, is Mother’s Day, a day set aside to honor mothers. I wish to pay tribute in memoriam to my mother, Orene Thornburg Black. She was a loving wife, mother grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and faithful church member. She taught a Sunday school class until her death, was Woman’s Missionary Union director in the local Baptist church and held other church offices. The death angel took her to heaven twenty-one years ago. We, her children, are very grateful to God for giving us a Christian mother who was so precious to us.
I wish you all mothers who read this column a happy mother’s day! God Bless you always.
