Bentley to attend ribbon cutting in Ashville today
The State Government is reaching out to help Ashville businesses expand, and this week the governor is coming to town to break the news.
Today Sept. 24, Gov. Robert Bentley will join other state and local leaders to announce a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Ashville and participate in a ribbon cutting for an expansion at Groom’s Aluminum Processing.
In August of 2014, Grooms Aluminum announced plans to build a new 20,000 square foot facility to smelt and refine nonferrous metals. After the Alabama Department of Environmental Management “determined that the equipment/operations proposed by the company should be able to meet State and federal air pollution control requirements,” in June, the new facility was cleared to operate.
The CDBG grant will be used to assist in road improvements at the Ashville Industrial Park, potentially increasing success for Grooms Aluminum and other businesses.
The ribbon cutting will officially open the facility. It will take place at Grooms Aluminum Processing, 615 Industrial Park Drive in Ashville at 11 a.m.
