St. Clair County Extension Office Veterans Outreach Coordinator Wayne Johnson is retiring after five dedicated years. Johnson is a Air Force veteran of 20 years.
When joining the Extension Office, Wayne had a vision to get out into the community to find veterans and widows of veterans to help. He worked hard and successfully accomplished this by making veterans aware of the benefits offered to them.
Johnson considers his time with the extension office a “blessing.” During his time, Johnson considers his biggest accomplishment being able to help homeless veterans find temporary and permeant housing.
The staff at the Extension Office praised Johnson for being “a great colleague and friend.”
Following his retirement on September 30, Johnson plans to relax, go fishing and spend some much needed time with his grandson. However, he still plans to be an asset to the veterans in the community by driving them to appointments, assisting in grocery shopping and whatever else is needed.
