A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, has claimed the life of a pedestrian, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division.

A 15-year-old teen was fatally injured when the youth was struck by a 2004 Nissan Frontier driven by Tyler Gillilan, 31, of Oneonta.

The teen was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash which occurred on U.S. 231 near the 245 mile marker, approximately four miles north of Ashville, in St. Clair County.

Nothing further is available as troopers with ALEA continue to investigate.
