What’s Up in Odenville

The SCCHS Sounds of The Saints Marching Band received their official invitation to participate in the London New Year’s Day Parade in January 2019. Representatives from London held a ceremony in the high school gym Tuesday to officially extend the invitation. This is a 2-mile parade; has more than 8k participants, 750k in attendance and 455 million viewers. The cost to participate is $3800 per student/chaperone, so there are several fundraisers planned for the future:
- Share Night at Bojangles in Moody on February 25
- Motor for Music Car Show on March 16 at 9 a.m.
- 5K Color Run on March 30 at 9 a.m.
- Family Movie night each month. In addition, individual donations and sponsorships are being accepted.
SCCHS Senior Skyler Mizzell is your 220# AHSAA State Wrestling Champion! Skyler competed and won four matches to take first place this past weekend. His record for the year is 59-4 with a record of 194-20 from 9-12 grade. A total of 13 wrestlers from the county placed at state including SCCHS Logan Samples 5th place -106# and Ethan Scrivener 5th place 152#. Congrats guys!

Odenville’s Carly Skipper was crowned the 3rd Grade Queen of Hearts this past weekend! Congrats Carly!
The Odenville Police Dept. is currently accepting applicants for reserve police officers. A reserve officer is a non-paid position that is an opportunity to help determine if this is the career for you. To apply you must come to the Police Dept. at 12600 US Hwy 411 Odenville, AL Mon-Fri 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. in person to pick up an application.
