The 2018-2019 St. Clair County Marching Band Expo was held Thursday, September 13 at the Springville High School Football Stadium to a large and enthusiastic crowd.
Ashville, Leeds, Moody, Pell Cit , Ragland, St Clair County and Springville High Schools all performed their halftime shows for the expo to showcase each band.
The band expo also gives the bands preparation for the upcoming band competitions. Marching bands across St. Clair County have placed well in state and area competitions in the past and hope that this year will be without exception.
The Springville Tigers Marching Band has a new director this school year, Michael Muncher, who previously directed band in Shelby County.
There were a few weather delays, however, the expo was able to complete and enjoy an ending performance by the UAB Blazer Drumline.
The area band festival will be held at Pell City High School on Saturday, Sept. 22 beginning at 9 a.m. Over 20 bands will be participating.
“I am so excited at the response we have received from the schools that are coming to participate,” said Whitney Hollis, PCHS Color Guard sponsor and band booster.
“I am also excited about everyone that has reached out to volunteer in some capacity. This Festival is for the kids and the growth of our band. With growth we provide more opportunities for our children. Everyone’s time is valuable and I appreciate everyone who is volunteering and helping.”
