Springville Schools Happenings:

  • Springville Middle School hosted the 7th and 8th grade Talent Show on Wednesday, April 25. The Grand Finale included a performance by the middle school teachers.
  • The Springville High School Golf Team won the St Clair County Golf Championship Tournament.
  • The Springville Youth Association, SHS Beta Club and SHS Key Club hosted the 1st Annual Ball Park Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 28.
  • The Springville High School Girls Soccer team, Boys Tennis Team, Lady Tigers Softball Team and Boys Baseball Team competed at State Playoff Tournaments this past week.
  • Congratulations to Allie Winslett and Emma Owen of Springville High School for making the 2018 UAB Blazerettes Dance Team!
  • Springville Elementary School is hosting its “1st Annual Spring Fling & Food Truck Rally” on Saturday, May 5 from 2 – 8 p.m. with live music, kids activities and local vendors. $3 donation at the gate.

The Springville Farmers Market will celebrate its opening day with its new location, adjacent to Big Springs Park on May 5.

Springville’s famous, Homestead Hollow Arts and Crafts Festival will be held, May 11 through May 13. Contact http://homesteadhollow.com for more information.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

The Springville Preservation Society will host “Murder Mystery Dinner Theater” on May 5. Tickets for dinner and the show are $25 and can be purchased at the Springville Museum.

The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m.

The Springville Senior Center offers Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

Christ Community Church is offering monthly “Art Days” for kids ages 6-12, for $5. Register at art.springville.info

The Church at Bradford Road is offering a Divorce Support Group for Children every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Contact 205-467-7376. 

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The next class will be posted soon.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
