The Springville Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 9 on Main Street, starting at 6 p.m. 

The Josiah Brunson Chapter of the DAR made a donation to the Children’s Annex at the Springville Library on November 18.  DAR dedicated the picture book, “The Poppy Lady: Moina Belle Michael and Her Tribute to Veterans.” 

The Shops on Main Street in Springville are hosting Christmas Open House every Thursday night through the Holidays from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m. Participating venues include Main Street Pizza, Del Sol, Nichols Nook, The Farmers Market and many more.  

The Springville Farmers Market on Main Street (across from PNC Bank) is growing and creating a buzz with local honey, fresh vegetables, local artisan crafts and fun, food offerings.  The Springville Farmers Market will be open every Friday from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. -12 p.m. with booths from local produce vendors and craft and art vendors.  

The Springville Preservation Society will be selling Christmas ornaments of Springville’s olden days. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Society.  

Springville High School Key Club, Beta Club, FCCLA, some teachers and a local church youth group collected and stuffed a little over 250 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child on Friday, November 17. 

The Springville High School Basketball Alumni game was held at 3 p.m. on November 12 Springville High School. 

The Springville High School Marching Band is hosting Annual Pancakes with Santa Breakfast, December 2 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Springville Methodist Church. Tickets are $6.  

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. From the St Clair County EMA: Road Closure at Muckleroy Creek Bridge. AL State Hwy 11 from Whitney Junction/AL Hwy 231 to State Route 23, Springville to close to thru traffic on Monday, December 12 for bridge work. Alternate Route: I-59. Local traffic can utilize Huff Lane to Crawford Cove to State Rd 23 and also Pinedale Rd to 23. Timeline: More than 1 year.  This notice is provided from the Alabama Department of Transportation. 

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills. Springville Library 

The Springville Library hosts Preschool StoryTime every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. 

The Springville Library hosts “An American Girl Club” for ages 6-12, every first Saturday at 10:30 a.m.  Contact the Springville Library for details at 205-467-2339. 

The Lego Club will meet every Friday and Saturday from 11a.m. – 12p.m. at the Springville Library in the Children’s Annex. Space is limited. Please call or visit your library to register at 205-467-2339. 

Local churches 

Christ Community Church is offering monthly “Art Days” for kids ages 6-12, for $5. Register at art.springville.info  

The Springville Senior Center started a Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.  

The Springville Presbyterian Church is undergoing a restoration. It received a donation from Brasfield & Gorrie to help restore the steeple and bell tower. The church is one of the oldest churches in the area. Donations to fund the restoration can be made to the Springville Presbyterian Church Foundation at P.O. Box 429, Springville, AL 35146.
