Congratulations to Jerry Dailey, recipient of the 2018 Springville Veteran of the Year Award. The Veterans Dinner was hosted by City of Springville and the Springville Chamber of Commerce. The Springville CAP-126 posted the Colors.

The Springville Fire Department is hosting its 18th Annual Turkey & Ham Sale. Deadline for orders will be November 19.  For orders call 205-467-2703. All proceeds benefit the Fire Department.

The Springville Public Library hosts Preschool Storytime every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Springville Elementary School hosted “Bring a Veteran Day” at school to honor local veterans.

The City of Springville’s Christmas Open House will be November 15. Local merchants will be open until 8 p.m. for all of your shopping needs. Also, on Friday November 16 at 6 p.m., bring your blankets for Movies in the Park, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Free hot chocolate, popcorn, cotton candy and food trucks.

Congratulations to the SHS Cheerleaders for making All-County Cheerleader after this weekend’s competition:  JV-Kenley Ellison, Kali Nolin, Emma Lowe, and MVP Alyssa Dutton!

The Springville Middle School Spelling Bee will be held December 5 at the school.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
