Pell City Christmas Parade

The Pell City Christmas Parade has been a tradition for over 30 years, as long as most people can remember. This year, the theme of the parade was “A Magical Christmas.” Floats, bands, convertibles, the antics of the Shriners and Jolly Old Saint Nick himself were part of the festivities as Pell City rang in the season.

Pell City Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Christmas parade on Dec. 14, which began at Pell City High School, marched down Cogswell Avenue, and ended at the Avondale Walking Track. This was the same route that was established at last year’s parade, creating a more linear route for bystanders and participants.

Over 90 floats, bands, and local fire trucks participated in the parade, which drew thousands of spectators lining Cogswell Avenue. Children held outstretched hands for candy and “Merry Christmas” could be heard with every step of the parade.

Floats were also judged for creativity, originality, and Christmas theme. Winners were: Small Business – LightCast; Church/School – St. Clair County Headstart; Non-Profit – ASPCI; Industry/LG Retail – WKW; Overall Highest Score and Spectator’s Choice – Benjamin Moore.
