Work continues on Interstate 20 as part of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s project to widen the last four-lane segment of the roadway in St. Clair County.

Weather permitting, state troopers will conduct rolling roadblocks between Exits 144-153 on Tuesday, May 17, and Thursday, May 19, from 7 to 7:10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes and from 7 to 7:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes, for blasting.  During the rolling roadblocks, on-ramps to I-20 will be closed at Exit 147 eastbound and at Exit 152 westbound. 

Areduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.

This work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County. The scheduled completion date on the project is Oct. 1, 2012.
