St. Clair County residents recognized for academics

Mason Freeman, of Moody, was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at University of West Alabama. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.

Area students named to the Lawson State Community College President’s List for the Spring 2025 term include: Alston Abts and Makayla Truss of Moody; Jonathan Lett and Adolfo Martinez  of Odenville; William Thomaston of Pell City; and Luke Jones of Springville. Area students named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 term include: Daniel Boe and Jaleen Fikes of Springville; Brian Brown of Ashville; and Andrew Whitmire of Moody.

Wallace State Community College congratulates more than 120 student athletes who were named to the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. Area students earning a place on the ACCC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll include: Elliot Denard (Men’s Cross Country) and Brady Gillespie (Baseball) of Springville; Kloey Poe (Cheerleading) of Ragland; David Robles (Men’s Cross Country) and Brooklynn Sertell (Softball) of Odenville.

Troy University has recognized new students who have completed IMPACT orientation and enrolled in classes for the Fall 2024 semester. Local students who enrolled at Troy include: Kaelee Meadows of Ashville; Amari Thompson of Odenville; Lydia Hart of Riverside; and Addison Duckett and Isaac Smitherman of Springville.

Local students named to the President’s List at Mississippi State include: Alaina Franks of Moody; Madilyn Miller of Odenville; Aidan Lange and Chloe Joiner of Pell City; Audrey Green and Kali Nolin of Springville; and Jacob Lovvorn of Steele. Local students named to the Deans’ List include: Erin Glidewell, of Pell City; and Myriah Steele and Ava Franks, of Springville.

Approximately 3,500 students are on the spring 2025 Graduation List at Mississippi State University. Students who graduated in May include: Alaina Franks, of Moody. Franks received the Bachelor of Science Summa Cum Laude from MSU’s College of Arts and Sciences. Shannon Lee, of Springville. Lee received the Bachelor of Science from MSU’s College of Arts and Sciences. Jacob Lovvorn, of Steele. Lovvorn received the Bachelor of Applied Science Magna Cum Laude from MSU’s College of Professional and Continuing Studies. Taylor Williams, of Moody. Williams received the Bachelor of Science from MSU’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

William Bittner, of Odenville, was named to the University of Mississippi’s Spring 2025 Honor Roll lists. Bittner, majoring in Public Policy Leadership, was named to the Chancellor’s Honor Roll.

Makayla Montgomery, of Odenville, was named to the University of Mississippi’s Spring 2025 Honor Roll lists. Montgomery, majoring in Communication Sciences/Disorders, was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll.

The University of West Alabama has announced undergraduate students named to the President’s List for the Spring 2025 academic semester. Locals include: Ariel Baethke of Springville, majoring in Special Education; Amanda Stephens of Pell City, majoring in Special Education; Caroline Daniel of Springville, majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education; Candace Tucker of Pell City, majoring in General Science; William Goolsby of Springville, majoring in Health Sciences; Benjamin Sailors of Pell City, majoring in History and English; Madelyn Brasher of Pell City, majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications; and Leah Cook of Ashville, majoring in Psychology.

Dean’s List for the UWA Spring 2025 academic semester includes: Tiffney Bates of Springville, majoring in Accounting; Debra Tyler of Ashville, majoring in Special Education; Morgan Blair of Cropwell, majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education; Jessica Smith of Pell City, majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education; Sara Hettich of Springville, majoring in Management; Hannah Meadows of Moody, majoring in Sport Management; and Jabe Burgess of Ashville, majoring in Technology.
