St. Clair County was honored for coordinating the Best Civic Club Programs for larger-population counties during the Alabama Farm-City annual awards luncheon in Auburn April 17.
Throughout the year, committee members tied in their ag backgrounds and perspectives into community events. They also coordinated a grant-writing workshop to help local businesses; provided a tomato production display at a community night out; and attended local government meetings to provide rural insight into important proposals.
The committee received a cash prize from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation (AFAF) for their work, which showcased the theme of “Our Community Counts on Farmers.”
