The Jacksonville State University Small Business Development Center, the SBA, & the Pell City Chamber of Commerce will offer one-on-one counseling for prospective and existing small business owners at no charge on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Next weekend, March 1 and 2 at 2 p.m., come see PCHS Theatre’s student directed show, “Good Cop, Bad Cop.” Two detectives need to hunt down the mysterious vandal who is going around town and switching street signs. This show is entirely free. However, if you happen to bring some cash feel free to make a small donation. All money collected for this will go to charity.
Dancing with Our Stars will be March 5 with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the dance competition beginning at 7 p.m. This will benefit the Pell City Fire Department. Purchase dinner dance tickets at the Pell City Chamber of Commerce, Nationwide Insurance, Metro Bank, Lakeside Nutrition, Magnolia’s or call 205-473-4063 for Venmo instructions.
Spotlight B.E.A.M.S. is an engaging after-school theater program for students in K-7. More than just acting, B.E.A.M.S. (Boldly Encouraging Aspiring Minds on Stage) helps young performers build confidence, improve communication and develop public speaking skills. This season, students will showcase their hard work in a production of “101 Dalmatians Kids” June 5. Cost is $200 per student and $150 for each additional student. Tuition guarantees your students a role in the production and two complimentary tickets to the showcase at the end of the semester. B.E.A.M.S will be March 4-June 5, Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. for grades. Go to www.pellcitycepa.com/beams to register.

PCHS Beta Club came home from the State Convention as winners. They placed and qualified for nationals in 13 categories. Academics: 9th grade Biomedical – Erynn Hill – 2nd, 9th grade Science – Adeline Stover – 3rd, 10th grade Language Arts – Savannah Lee – 1st, 11th grade Science – Coleman Carver – 1st, 12 grade Science – Carter White – 1st, 12th grade Language Arts – Joshua Dickie – 3rd, 12 grade Spanish – Stephania Chacon – 3rd. Quiz Bowl: Braylon Ball, Coleman Carver, Landy Shi, Carter White, Copper Williamson – 2nd. Apparel Design – Jesiah Hunter – 2nd. Div 1 Painting – Marie Sophia Kaplan – 1st. Div 1 Onsite Art – Marie Sophia Kaplan – 1st. Div 2 Black and White Photo – Addison Clark – 1st. Div 2 Digital Art – Bella Kate Garrett – 1st. They also ended up in 12th place in the scavenger hunt with 12,990 points!
There are new PCHS high school teachers. Robert Gray is coming in as a PE teacher and football coach. Randie Roberts will officially start as a special education teacher in the 2025-26 school year, but will be hitting the court this spring as the new volleyball coach.
