Remember: Every day is a new day, and the Bible says in Proverbs 14:29, “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Think about it: In our world, we want everything, and we want it now. We want everything microwaved, instead of waiting for something to really be slowly cooked in the Crock-Pot. It may be hard in the moment to wait, but patience always pays off.

Happiness is trying to give something away—a smile. It can’t be done. It always comes back, even a confirmed grouch will return it. Try it.

Sports: Congratulations to Pell City High School softball coach Brittany Gillison on reaching 100 career coaching wins!

The PCHS softball team are tournament champions. The Lady Panthers kicked off the season with a bang, bringing home the title at the Vestavia Hills Red and Blue Classic.

PCHS wrestler, Amy Hurley made history as the first girl from Pell City to not only qualify for state, but she also placed 3rd at 126lbs. On the boys side of the tournament Drake Pabst placed 3rd at 157lbs. There were 2 who placed 5th: Elijah Wilson at 138lbs and Brayden Tray at 144lbs. Malik Watts placed 6th at 285. Elijah also earned his 100th career win.

Congratulations to the PCHS fishing team who had a big day on Lake Jordan this past weekend in the Airport Marine High School/Junior Bass Trail. The team secured a 1st place finish, with two boats landing in the Top 10 and four boats in the Top 30. Top finishes include: 4th – Carter Bunn and Talon Elrod (15.35 lbs.); 7th – Garrett Knight and Graham Knight (11.44 lbs.); 21st – Chandler Dickerson and Collin St. John (6.28 lbs.); 29th – Ryan Armstrong and Noah Hayes (4.62 lbs.)

Local: Dancing with Our Stars will be March 5 with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the dance competition beginning at 7 p.m. This will benefit the Pell City Fire Department. CEPA: Dancing With Our Stars 2025 is now in its 11th year and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support organizations like the Pell City Police Department, Pell City Fire Department and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. Each year, the Pell City Line Dancers, long led by director Doris Munkus, turn their love of dancing into a fundraising effort for all kinds of good things in the community. The date is March 1 and tickets are $30 online at pellcitycepa.com/tickets or $35 at the door.

Miscellaneous: Random Act of Kindness Day has already come and gone, but it is never too late to spread acts of kindness. Here are some ways suggested by the Pell City Chamber of Commerce: Eat Local; Donate to a community charity; Volunteer/get involved; Write a positive review for a local business; Send an encouraging email or handwritten note; Give a gift card; Sponsor a pet up for adoption; Organize a cleanup party; Be welcoming to your neighbor and new businesses; and Be courteous, positive, and kind.
