Congratulations to high school wrestling Bulldog, Tyler Ebner. We have seen his wins for years. This senior won the state championship for his school division and weight class.
Well done, Tyler. It has been a pleasure covering your high school career. And it will be a pleasure to report if and when you sign on for a scholarship in the Spring.
High schoolers aren’t the only Ashville athletes blazing trails. The grammar school has made their mark as well … and in one of the most difficult sports: archery.
Archery is also one of the oldest sports in the world. It began as a means of hunting and battle. Over time it evolved and became an Olympic sport in 1972. It requires skill, position and concentration.
These virtues are not typically associated with children. That makes Jackson Hansen’s and Sophie brunette victory even more impressive. Jackson placed first in the male division, Sophie placed third in the female division and the elementary school placed first in a recent competition. Kudos to be straight shooters!
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on groundhog day, six more weeks of winter, so find indoor activities.
The Little Art Tree is an Ashville institution. So many people of all ages having so much there. It hosts its own craft fair and is present in many of the city’s celebrations. And it is about to get even better. They are moving to a new location. According to the owner, they are rebranding. Keep up with them on Facebook to see these exciting changes.
Another way to beat the winter blues is aromatherapy. Good night Moon Candle Company has a new package available of varying scents. Shipping and local pickup are available.
Two young women are starting a club called Sips and Scriptures. It’s still in its planning stages, but there will be more information as it evolves.
Anyone who is hosting any activities or starting any clubs for winter, please post them on the What’s Happening in Ashville Facebook page. Or you can email me directly at penandpage3@gmail.com.
Until then, have a good week Ashville. Stay warm and stay together!
