Sports

Congratulations to the 10-U Pell City All-Star basketball team who placed 2nd in the league’s championship game and will be going to state.

Congratulations to the 8th grade junior high Lady Panthers softball team for taking second place in the Gena Frith Classic in Tuscaloosa.

Congratulations to Matilee Bridgewater for being named Miss Pell High. and congratulations to Ryleigh Boling and Maycie Thomas named as Senior Class Favorites, Molly Burgos as Freshman Class Favorite and Most Photogenic. Also, congratulations to Abby Wesson for being selected as Miss Congeniality.

Congratulations to Renee Santiago of Coosa Valley Elementary School. Chick-fil-A Pell City is honoring her as one of February’s Teachers of the Month.

Congratulations to Lucas Storey, our Pell City Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, for being named the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama Youth of the Year runner-up.

Pell City High School presents Prom Night, “A Night in the Magic City” on March 22 at the B&A Warehouse in Birmingham beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale March 1. Check out the PCHS Website for more information.

CEPA

Love classical music? Looking for a classy date night? Just want to try something new? Come see the symphony! The Alabama Symphony Orchestra is coming to CEPA. Join in for a night of musical entertainment on March 1 at CEPA at 7pm for An Evening of Serenades. Tickets are $20 and $12.

Then on March 2 at 6:30 p.m., you can enjoy Dancing With Our Stars. Tickets are $25 or $30 at the door. All proceeds go to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.

Local

Pell City Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly Lunch & Learn at noon on Thursday, March 7. This month’s guest speaker will be Darby Davis who is a Business Advisor for the Small Business Development Center at Jacksonville State University. Free for members. $10 for non-members.

Free parenting classes for families in St. Clair County. You will be provided with breakfast and lunch, free childcare, and a $25 Gift Card for each session attended, books and other incentive items. Courses are held at the Pell City Child Development at 205 Bruce Etheredge Pkwy, Pell City, 35125 and are: March 9 and 23 and April 6 and 20 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Terry Turner will appear at Jumbo’s on Old Coal City Rd on March 23 from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $20 (Does not include food) and seats can be reserved at tcbshows.com.
