One of the wonderful things about living in a small community is the way people come together for the good times and the bad.

One of the goods is high school football games. Football is no more important than any other sport. But it does have more players than most teams. and also cheerleaders, the music makers, the super talented dance line and the amazing color guard.

With that many people on the field, chances are everyone in this city knows, or may even be related to one or more of them. Or maybe you’re not. Go just to support the community.

The football team had some trials last year, but the improvement this year has been significant.

Congratulations to Nate Huckbay for being named alpha insurance player of the week. He was chosen for his three receptions that resulted in 204 yds. He also got three interceptions. The team also got a new assistant coach this year. A warm welcome to Deondre Williams.

When you support the team, you are supporting the school so many other students (all of the students actually), faculty, staff and even the city of Ashville.

And, before too long, the air will have that perfect crisp of chill in the air. That’s football air. So put on your green and orange and go cheer.
