Hello everyone. We are well on the way to summer activities. I hope all the mothers have a wonderful Mothers’ Day. It is Sunday, May 12.
Anniversaries: A special congratulations to my granddaughter Kayla and husband, Beaux Byrd, who celebrated their 4th anniversary on May 8.

Congratulations to Anna and Tim Howard who celebrated their 7th anniversary on May 6, which is the anniversary of Anna’s grandparents, Mary Mathis and the late Benny Mathis. May 6 is a special day for that family.
Weddings: Congratulations to Luke Brasher and Julia Funderburg who were married Saturday, May 4. I heard the wedding was beautiful.
Graduations: Congratulations to Libby Davenport McCullough and Susie Weir on their graduation from Oral Roberts University. Congratulations to Lexi Bishop on her graduation from Jacksonville State University.

Sports: Congratulations to PCHS track star, Tre Peterson, who won the 6A State Championship in both the 100M and the 200M race.
The Pell City 7th grade boys basketball tryouts will be on May 20, at Williams Intermediate School gym. The Pell City 8th grade boys basketball tryouts will be May 21, at Duran Jr. High gym from 3:30-5 pm. All boys must have a current physical before trying out. Must have athletic shorts and basketball shoes.
Pell City High School Boys Basketball is putting on a Golf Scramble Tournament Fundraiser on May 31, at 1 p.m. at Alpine Bay Golf Course. There are plenty of sponsorship availabilities and spots for teams. If you are interested in sponsoring, donating or playing, contact matthouse2@yahoo.com. There will be prizes and lunch will be provided.
PCHS Summer Soccer Mini Camp will be in 2 sessions. Session 1: 8-11 a.m. June 17-20. Session 2: 5-8 p.m. June 17-20. June 21 will be make-up day in case of rain. Camp will be held at the Pell City Civic Center Fields and will be for boys and girls going into K–6th grade. The cost is $100 per camper for one session and $150 for both sessions. Church: Victory Church Pell City is launching a new campus in Lincoln, and you are invited to be a part of building up strong, Godly families in the city. Services will start soon, so check it out and invite friends to the launch. For more info, go to victory.com.
The Pell City Splash Pad opens for “School hours” on Thursday and Friday 1-6 p.m., Saturdays, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
The 12th Annual Logan Martin LakeFest and Boat Show will be held May 10-11, starting at 2 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday, at Lakeside Park in Pell City. This year there will be closer parking, VIP parking, fireworks, a food court, a bigger kids’ area, music, and lots and lots of boats. There will be raffle giveaways each hour. Join in every Third Thursday in Historic Downtown Pell City for specials, sales and fun. Thursday May 16, beginning at 11 a.m.
Back and better than ever, the 2024 Pell City Hometown Block Party. 25th Annual Event. Come out and celebrate. There will be live music, a car show, food vendors and a fun kids zone. Hosted by JNR’s Pizza and Ice Cream Shop. Stop by the shop and grab some ice cream, shaved ice, pizza or muffuletta. We open at 11 a.m. and will be open until the last customer.
The St. Clair Co. Sheriff’s Office will host a Distracted Drivers Course on June 11, 18 and 25 beginning at 9 a.m. at Eden Career Tech, 45 County Road 33, Ashville, AL 35953. This is a free class. I hear they have broken ground for an Outback restaurant and a Whataburger in Pell City.
