A Trussville man has been charged with murder and attempted murder in the death of his parents.

John Adam Bowlin, 35, is being held in the death of his father, John D. Bowlin, 61, and attempted murder of his mother, Connie L. Bowlin, 60. Connie Bowlin is listed in stable condition at University of Alabama Birmingham.

According to a statement from Moody Police, Monday, Jan. 22, at approximately 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to a possible domestic assault. Upon arrival, officers located the Bowlins. John D. Bowlin was pronounced dead at the scene.

With assistance of the St. Clair County Swat Team, John Adam Bowlin was taken into custody at a separate location, 800 Block of Argo Margaret Road, without incident and transported to the St. Clair County Jail.

At a court appearance Jan. 24, John Adam Bowlin was denied bond under Aniah’s Law.

The St. Clair County District Judge wrote in his order that the suspect is a danger to himself and the public.
