Birthdays: I wish a wonderful birthday to my grandson, Michael Snow, who turns 18 on the 22nd. We are so proud of the special young man he is.
A special birthday wish goes out to my granddaughter, Emily Vaughan Doty, who celebrates her birthday on Oct. 25. Also, birthday wishes to my special friends, Janet Weldon, who celebrates her birthday on the 24th and Janice Carlisle, who celebrates her birthday on the 26th. Other birthdays include Kevin Ballard, Sara Ann Love Rast, Beth Mathis, Billie Jeffers, Briggs Guinn, Melissa Jones, Sandra Gerhardt, Betty Woolsey, Clay West, Addie Yarbrough, Lillian Smith, John Fisher, Teresa Harris, Eric Knepper and Ben Jordan.

Just Married: Congratulations to Jim and Julie Mathis who were married on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Trunk or Treats:
• Pell City First United Methodist Church will have a Fall Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. There will be games, hot dogs, family fun and lots of candy.
• Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church will have its Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m.
• You are invited to go by Oak Circle Assisted Living on Thursday, Oct. 26 for Trunk or Treat from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
• Take the little ones to Tamara’s Salon/Southern Sassy Creations in Eden for some candy and fun on Oct. 26. the fun begins at 5 p.m. There will be candy and games and everyone is welcome.
• You are invited to the Pell City Animal Hospital’s 2nd Annual Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. They will be hosting a pet costume contest where 1st and 2nd place winners will be chosen. This year’s theme is Disney! They will also hold a drawing for a Wellness Month Giveaway. Please call and ask staff for more information. Hope you can join them for this spook-tacular event!
• New Hope Baptist Church will have its Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 4-6 p.m.
• The Pentecostals of Pell City will have its Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 2-5 p.m. on the church property. There will be food, games and a hayride.
• You are invited to Rushing Springs Baptist Church for its Harvest Festival on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. service. There will be music, food, fun games, friendly costumes, candy, a Trunk or Treat Competition. Bring your family and friends.
• Join Victory Church on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. for its Annual Trunk-R-Treat! This massive event is a fun and safe place for your family to have a blast! There will be tons of candy, games, characters from your favorite movies and shows, and more.
• Seddon Baptist Church is excited to be once again having Truck-or-Treat on Oct. 31 at 6:30. Come join us for a safe atmosphere for your kids to get some great candy and treats!
• Trick-or-Treat All Day at the Pell City Library on Oct. 31. there will be crafts and games from 4-6 p.m. with Halloween Bingo at 4 p.m.; Spooky Story Time at 5 p.m., and a Costume Contest at 5:45 p.m. You can decorate a free Halloween Bucket.

Sports: PCHS Varsity Football Update: the varsity game originally scheduled for Oct. 27 against Pinson Valley has been changed to Thursday, Oct. 26.
Congratulations to PCHS Senior football player, Caleb Groce, for winning the 6A Player of the Week for Week #6. This is the second week in a row for Caleb.
Also, Caleb was spotlighted by Central Alabama Standouts for his quarterback plays and his wide receiver plays. Plus, he is an awesome young man.
Congratulations to the Logan Martin Stripers, the 8U Gold Champions. They were undefeated all day and even shut out an undefeated team 9-0 in 4 innings. They are the USSSA Alabama Fall State Champions.
City basketball registration is open and will go through Oct. 29. Leagues are offered for ages 5-12 years old. Go to pellcityrecdesk.com for more information and to register.
Congratulations to Tanner Wilder on making the All-Tournament Golf Team with a 3rd place finish at Cross Creek in Cullman.
Congratulations to the Pell City High School Band of Gold. They competed at the Heart of Dixie Marching Festival in Prattville. The Band earned straight Ones and won Best in Class Drum Major and Danceline.
Pell City Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Business Builder Breakfast on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. This month the special guest speaker will be Alabama State Senator Lance Bell. This event offers networking for your business, door prizes and breakfast. This event is free, but seating is limited, and registration is required. Register by going to pellcitychamber.com/

Do not throw away your old blankets, sheets, and bath towels. The Pell City Animal Shelter can use for the animals. The cold is coming.
