SEC announces football schedule and fan guidelines

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) released their revised 2020 football schedule.

The league decided to move forward with a conference only schedule for 2020 due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.

Week one of games will begin September 26 and are as follows: Alabama at Missouri, Florida at Ole Miss, Georgia at Arkansas, Kentucky at Auburn, Mississippi State at LSU, Tennessee at South Carolina, Vanderbilt at Texas A&M.

Despite other college conferences delaying their fall sport season to spring and even canceling fall sports all together, the SEC has put in place guidelines for their fans.

While the majority of protocols are being left up to individual schools, such as attendance capacity, tailgating, team walks and shuttles, the league is encouraging fans, stadium works and athletic staff wear masks while in the stadium.

Face coverings — over the nose and mouth — will be required for fans entering, exiting and moving through the stadium, as well as when they are “unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household.” Stadium workers and athletic staff is required to wear face coverings at all times.

“These fan guidelines have been adopted by the 14 member schools of the Southeastern Conference as baseline recommendations for the campus management of fan health and safety,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “Although local and state guidelines will determine if and how many fans can attend games, these guidelines provide conference-wide expectations for protection of guests who are able to attend our games.”
