Argo zoning board to hold public hearing

On Tuesday Feb. 28, the City of Argo’s zoning board will hold a second public hearing regarding the manufactured homes 50X ordinance.
The zoning board held a public hearing in December 2011 to present the 50X ordinance to zone property for manufactured homes. The proposed ordinance did not pass in December, so the zoning board put together a committee to address the issues of 50X.
Residents in the Mountain Oaks subdivision and surrounding areas expressed concerns about the zoned areas around their property.
Over the last few months, the zoning board has taken suggestions from the committee to make changes to the ordinance.
“I think having a committee for the 50X ordinance has brought a sense of calm to the situation,” Jim Link, chairman of the zoning board said. “The committee has been able to relate to residents in Mountain Oaks and others, and people have been able to express their concerns openly.” Link hopes having the committee eliminates the confusion residents experienced at the last public hearing.
Individuals will be given two minutes to speak and express concerning over the area to be zoned for manufactured homes. Maps are available for public viewing at Argo City Hall, Buckeye’s Grocery, Fox’s Pizza, Argo Video, William’s Orchid and Argo Grocery and Hardware.
