The Alabama Bicentennial Traveling Exhibit is coming to St. Clair County April 9 through April 22. The exhibit will be on display at the new Moody Civic Center in Moody from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
St. Clair County is the first stop as the exhibit begins its journey through Alabama’s 67 counties in preparation of the State’s Bicentennial in 2019. During 2018 St. Clair County is celebrating its own bicentennial, and hosting the State’s exhibit was planned as a part of the county’s celebration.
A section of the traveling exhibit will feature the St. Clair County Bicentennial Exhibit. Storyboards will provide a glimpse into the early history of St. Clair County. Also on display will be a large topographical map of St. Clair County, which once hung in the old Ashville courthouse. The map has recently undergone renovation and this will be the first chance in many years for the public to view this very unique map.
There is no fee for admission. School groups and groups of 10 or more will need to make advance reservations so that adequate staff can be available to assist with the tour.
For group reservations contact Christy Ellard at 205-640-8632.
